🔌 Use Cobrief in Claude

Connect Claude to Cobrief and work with tenders and your pipeline right in the conversation.

Written by Audun Wigum Arbo

With the Cobrief connector in Claude, you can search tenders, check your inbox and follow your pipeline without opening Cobrief. When you ask, Claude can also add tenders to your pipeline, move them and write comments. Claude fetches the data from your workspace while you talk and uses it in its answers.

The connector is built on MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard that lets AI tools fetch data from other services. The address of the Cobrief server is:

https://mcp.cobrief.com/mcp

The connector is available on paid Cobrief plans. You sign in with your own Cobrief user, and Claude can only see and do what you can in Cobrief. Every role can read and comment, including contributors. To add and move tenders in the pipeline, you need the administrator or member role, or a custom role that can change the pipeline. Read more about roles and permissions.

What Claude can do

Read

  • Check your inbox: open tenders that match your search profile and aren't in your pipeline yet, most relevant first.

  • Search all tenders: public tenders from Norway and the rest of Europe, plus your workspace's own private tenders. You can narrow by keywords, CPV codes, country, buyer and deadline.

  • Get one tender: description, buyer, CPV codes, deadline, estimated value, award and qualification criteria, Cobrief's summary and where to find the competition documents.

  • See your pipeline: the tenders you're working on, with status, owner, contract value, deadline and a link to the tender in Cobrief.

  • Read comments: the internal comments on a tender, with who wrote them and when.

  • Explain relevance: every tender comes with its relevance score from Cobrief and what it's based on.

Change

Claude only changes something when you ask, and gives you a link so you can check the change in Cobrief.

  • Add a tender to the pipeline: from the inbox, from hidden tenders or straight from a search, in the status you choose.

  • Move a tender: to another status in the pipeline, such as Go or No-go, or out of the pipeline to the inbox or to hidden tenders. Your reason is saved as the comment on the move.

  • Register the result: the contract value in a won, lost or cancelled status, and why you lost, such as on price or quality.

  • Write a comment: your colleagues see it on the tender in Cobrief. Claude can't @mention anyone, so nobody gets notified.

Claude can't delete anything, change the owner or clear a value. You can always move a tender Claude moved back again.

Claude can't read the competition documents, your knowledge base or the bids you write in Cobrief. Use the agent in Cobrief for that.

How to connect

Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and mobile

  1. In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors.

  2. Search the directory for Cobrief and select Connect.

  3. Sign in to Cobrief the way you usually do, and approve access.

  4. When you're back in Claude, Cobrief shows as connected.

On Claude Team or Enterprise, an Owner in your organization first adds Cobrief under Organization settings → Connectors. Each member then connects with their own Cobrief user. On the Team plan, you can select Request to ask an Owner to add it.

If you can't find Cobrief in the directory, you can add it yourself with the address above. Select Add custom connector under Customize → Connectors (or Add → Custom under Organization settings → Connectors on Team and Enterprise). Paste https://mcp.cobrief.com/mcp and select Add. You don't need a client ID or client secret.

Claude Code

Run this command in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http cobrief https://mcp.cobrief.com/mcp

Start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose Cobrief and sign in.

The first time Claude changes something

When you connect, you only give Claude permission to read. The first time Claude is about to change something in Cobrief, you're asked to sign in again and approve that Claude can also update your data. You only do this once.

Use Cobrief in a conversation

Turn on Cobrief for the conversation under + → Connectors. Then ask the way you'd ask a colleague. For example:

  • "What's in my Cobrief inbox this week?"

  • "Find cloud services tenders from Norwegian municipalities with a deadline after 1 December."

  • "Which tenders are we evaluating, and who owns each one?"

  • "Summarize the requirements and award criteria in this tender, and tell me where to find the competition documents."

  • "Add the first tender to the pipeline as being evaluated."

  • "Mark this tender as No-go. Reason: we don't have references from the health sector."

  • "We won the tender. Move it to won with a contract value of NOK 2.4 million."

  • "We lost this tender on price. Register it."

  • "Add a comment to the tender saying the site visit is on 12 November."

If you're a member of several workspaces, Claude fetches the list and asks which one you mean. You can also name the workspace in your question.

Before Claude moves a tender or changes its contract value, it asks for your permission. You control the rest under Customize → Connectors → Cobrief, where each tool can run without asking, need your approval, or be blocked. If you want Claude to ask before it writes a comment too, set that tool to need your approval.

Security and privacy

  • You sign in with your own Cobrief user. Claude gets the same access as you, never more.

  • Claude can only change something after you've given it permission to update your data. Claude can't delete anything.

  • Changes Claude makes show in Cobrief under your name, as if you'd made them yourself.

  • We log which tool was used, by whom, in which workspace and which tenders were changed. We don't log what you search for or what Claude gets back.

  • What Claude fetches from Cobrief becomes part of your conversation in Claude, where Anthropic's terms and privacy policy apply.

Disconnect

In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors, choose Cobrief and disconnect. Claude then loses access to your Cobrief user. You can connect again at any time.

Troubleshooting

  • Claude says the connector needs a paid plan. Your workspace is on the free plan. An administrator can upgrade, see Manage your Cobrief subscription.

  • Claude says you don't have access. Your role in the workspace doesn't allow this. Contributors, for example, can't change the pipeline. Ask an administrator to check your role.

  • Claude can't change anything. You need to approve that Claude can update your data. Ask Claude to try again, and approve when you're asked.

  • Claude can't find your workspace. Check that you signed in with the same user as in Cobrief. Disconnect and connect again if you've switched users.

  • Claude says you've made too many requests. Each user can make 60 requests a minute, four at a time and 20 changes a minute. Wait a moment and try again.

  • The connection has expired. Connect again under Customize → Connectors.
